About Sam
My name is Sam James. I was born and raised in Pontiac, Michigan. I developed a strong sense of duty and service from an early age. After graduating from Bloomfield Hills High School, I pursued my passion for justice by enrolling as a student in the Criminal Justice program at Oakland Community College where I took most of my courses at the Highland Lakes Campus located in Waterford! I moved on to finish my undergraduate degree at Siena Heights University in Adrian, Michigan. I joined the ranks of Law Enforcement with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office in 2016 where I found my passion for Community Service and served as a Community Liaison in Pontiac. Throughout my years of service, I served as Corrections Deputy, Road Patrol Deputy, Sergeant, and School Resource Officer. As a Law Enforcement Officer, I face a myriad of challenges of modern Law Enforcement with resilience and compassion, working tirelessly to build bridges between Law Enforcement and the community.

Throughout my career, I have recognized the need for forward thinking change in local government and Waterford is where the change will start!
